Great Deception – Saving Truth

Satan is the great deceiver. In the Garden; he told Adam and Eve they would be as wise as God if they ate of the forbidden fruit. They did. They weren't! Lot was deceived into thinking that the fertile land toward Sodom would provide his family with a better life. It didn't. It cost him dearly! The deceiver was at work one night in Jerusalem as David walked on the roof of the palace. What was David thinking? Adultery! A lying cover-up! Murder! Wow, David had no idea it would go this far. Peter the chief apostle gave in to Satan's deception, denied he ever knew Jesus. Somehow, Demas was persuaded into loving this world more than God's world of faith and obedience. Elaborate deceptions arranged by the greatest of deceivers.

The question becomes, how is he deceiving us?

• Has Satan told us that this religious stuff is empty and outdated? That it's indeed an opium for the masses. A crutch for the weak, poor, and uneducated.

• Has he persuaded us that we should climb the ladders of success and fame with every fiber of our being? Are we building elaborate castles on the deck of a sinking ship, standing back and admiring accomplishments which will soon be pulled under the ocean of time?

• Has Satan persuaded us that we will live forever? Are we not wise enough to detect the icy cold fact of death?

• Some have given into the deception that we are here only to have a good time and that there are no moral limits to our lustful behavior.

I've gotta ask you to be honest with yourself. Is there something inside that has you thinking: "Is there more to life than this?" Can you not let go of the idea there is a force out there that's greater than yourself, greater than all mankind, greater than technology? Is there something inside you saying this world's design demands a designer? In a still quiet moment, you hear the thump, thump, thump, of your own heart, you are brought to the realization that one day it will stop. Life, in this world is not forever.  So, you wonder: Is there a God? Has He spoken? What does He say. Do I have a place in His plan? Do you have this nagging feeling within, but have no context to interpret it? If so, keep on reading. Listen to these words of truth:

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands. He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives all men life and breath and everything else. From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being." (Acts 17.24-28).

It was Jesus who said: “God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him. (John 3.16-17).

He also indicated that this truth will set us free from sin, forgive us, and save us: "You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” Sanctify them by the truth;Your Word is Truth"  John 8.32 & 17.17).

If there's a nagging thought in the back of your mind, a restless feeling deep within your being, open your eyes to the truth, to reality around you. There is a God! He has spoken! He has a place in His plan for you! Don't become another victim of Satan's great deception, but see Jesus for who he really is... Your Truth... Your Savior.
