Building Houses and Homes

It was July 21, 1983, in Palmer, Alaska, 288 construction workers were waiting for the sound of the gun that would mark the beginning of construction on a new house.

The whole idea was that they were going to be timed to see how fast they could build a house. They were encouraged by a crowd of over six thousand spectators and a country band.

The record they set was nothing short of incredible. In just three hours, fifty-three minutes, and fifty-nine point forty-nine seconds the lucky couple, Rocky & Pat Weldon of Anchorage, stood on the steps of their new two bedroom house costing $80.000.

To top things off, a furniture company furnished the house in less than four minutes.

Fantastic, isn't it, that a house can be built and furnished in less than four hours.

Instant houses are possible, but instant homes are not! Homes take time to build. Instead of brick and mortar, lumber and nails, homes are made of: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self-control.
